Nature finance is receiving increasing attention as a way of supporting biodiversity recovery and environmental restoration. However, understanding the perspectives of those who live, work and make decisions within these landscapes is essential if they are to deliver meaningful and lasting environmental outcomes.
Lough Neagh, the UK's largest freshwater lake, faces significant environmental challenges, including declining water quality, biodiversity loss, and increasing pressure on the ecosystem.
Through the IFB Programme, researchers at Newcastle University, in collaboration with Queen's University Belfast, are exploring stakeholder perspectives on the opportunities, challenges and practical role that nature finance could play alongside other approaches to supporting the long-term health of the catchment.
To support this research, we are inviting Lough Neagh stakeholders to participate in one of two short online surveys. To participate, click the relevant link below.
- Farmer & Land Manager Survey - For farmers and land managers working within, or with an interest in, the Lough Neagh catchment.
- Wider Stakeholder Survey - For organisations, businesses, community groups, public bodies, NGOs, local people and others with an interest in the future of Lough Neagh.
Both surveys take approximately 15–20 minutes to complete and the deadline for completion is Friday the 31st of July.
